How to control the Fan speed on your Thinkpad
Thursday 20th March, 2008I recently kept experiencing my Thinkpad T60p getting very hot and occasionally locking up when playing certain games. I found a program that would allow me to control of the fan speed so I can increase the RPMs.

Well, if the laptop is more than a year old, I would suggest cleaning the fan of all the dust. That is the real culprit of laptops getting hot.

I suggest "Notebook Hardware Control" program - you can lower the CPU voltage, control fan and many more.
I use it on my T41 and it's very useful. With lowering CPU voltage my laptop runs cooler and fan starts very rarely..
